PRIME Minister David Cameron has been urged to create an action plan to save the country’s under-threat bee population.

Friends of the Earth visited his Witney constituency on Saturday with a billboard featuring 70,000 signatures backing the campaign.

Campaigners gathered another 100 signatures in the Woolgate Shopping Centre before posting the petition to Mr Cameron’s High Street constituency office.

Direct marketing officer Kat Heath, who dressed as a bee for the event, said: “We wanted to show David Cameron how much people care.

“If we do not do something now we are going to lose bees, and that would be awful.”
