TOREX’S former legal director solicitor, Nigel Horn, walked free from court because the jury informed Judge Mary Jane Mowat there was no chance of reaching a verdict on the allegation put forward.
So Mr Horn was cleared of involvement in the fraud.
This must have been a huge disappointment to the Crown Prosecution Service, particularly as the other three men in the dock were found guilty and given prison sentences for a fraud which cost shareholders around £17m.
The SeriousFraud Office costs were well over £1m to prosecute.
I suspect this case is the tip of a very large iceberg.
Perpetrators of this type of crime may consider themselves intelligent but as the old saying goes; the bigger you are, the harder you fall.
