STAFF at a Bicester bank may be forgiven for causing a stir after police were spotted in the branch.

But no crime had taken place at Santander – staff had donned police uniforms to help raise cash and donations for Bicester Foodbank.

They came up with the idea after the bank gave its backing for the branch to support a local charity.

One of the organisers Tracy Adamson, said: “We are loving it. We have got quite a lot of food in the trolley and it’s going to be in the branch all next week. People are coming in and have got big smiles on their faces.”

Colleague Caroline Graham, added: “We all put our heads together in the branch and thought Bicester Foodbank was a fantastic charity. It may be something any of us have to call on in future years.”

Staff also made cakes to sell and asked people to guess the number of balloons in a cage to raise extra cash.
