Sir – Hugh Jaeger (Letters, June 13) is right. Buses and pedestrians co-exist surprisingly well in Queen Street.
The drivers are careful and considerate. On the approach of a bus, pedestrians move aside with good humour. Please could the bus companies and the county council consider a limited experiment to bring buses back to Cornmarket?
The Kidlington and Barton services could be reunited, using Cornmarket in both directions. I would suggest an initial limited trial, on Sundays only.
If it works, it could be extended to other days, and possibly to other services. I realise that many people would see this as a step backwards.
But it would be a boon to people travelling (for example) from Summertown to the High Street, or Headington to St Giles.
