REGARDING my letter (Viewpoints, June 12) titled Let’s divert this money to repair our potholes: to date, the county council hasn’t admitted or denied that there may be more than £4.5m put aside for proposed alterations to Frideswide Square and The Plain.

There appears to be very little evidence of pothole repairs on our roads – and a white line sprayed around a pothole and left for weeks does not constitute a repair.

One could be excused for coming to the conclusion that those in charge of local government have nothing but contempt for the taxpayer.
