South Oxfordshire Amateurs added their name to the list of British sporting success over Australia this month, with a 41-run victory over the touring Melbourne XXIX Club at Queen’s College ground, Oxford.

In a 35-overs match played in sweltering conditions more suited the tourists, SOA made the most of a lightning-fast outfield to rattle up 260-7, led by sparkling innings from Fred Price (92) and Russell Hayes (60).

The XXIX Club, founded by a former SOA member Ian McDonald, who was up at Oxford during the 1950s, replied with 219-6.

The teams performed the post-match presentations on a trip down the Thames.

This was one of four wins for the SOA during a busy, but successful week.

SOA gained a rare four-wicket victory over the Hampshire Hogs thanks to an exceptional all-round display from Bradley Bopp, who took 5-15 and made 92 not out.

The following day, SOA defeated St Edward's Martyrs. Chasing a victory target of 220, they got home thanks to fine innings from skipper Ross Buchanan and teenager Harrison Ward.

The week was successfully concluded when the SOA beat Stowe Templars.
