RW Tucker clearly wants the UK out of the EU – fair enough.
But in the letter (The best EU deal is out and to stay out, July 17), we are told the European parliament is "unelected" – this is plain wrong.
UK voters elect their Euro MPs every five years, with an election due in May next year.
We are then told the parliament is "telling us life sentences must mean life". Really? MEPs have had zero say. A confusion with the European Court of Human Rights, which is entirely separate from the parliament.
RW Tucker may have more success if the facts were straight. That is exactly what is needed if there is to be a balanced debate on the UK’s membership of the EU.
