The man accused of holding police at bay during a 12-hour siege in Kidlington had a preliminary hearing yesterday.

Daniel Rodriguez, 38, has been charged with two counts of possession of an imitation firearm, using an imitation firearm with intent to resist arrest, possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid and false imprisonment.

The counts relate to the stand-off in Morton Avenue last Tuesday and Rodriguez gave his address as the flat that was at the centre of the siege.

He was remanded in custody and did not appear at the hearing at Oxford Crown Court. A plea and case management hearing will take place on September 27.
