THE 14-month-old toddler hospitalised after chewing a suspected drugs wrap has spent a second night in hospital.

Thames Valley Police said it was as a “precaution” and his condition was improving.

The youngster was taken to Stoke Mandeville on Wednesday after the incident at a popular recreation ground in Thame at around 5.15pm.

Police were called to the Southern Road recreation park after being alerted by the ambulance service.

Officers searched the area for any further litter and arranged for the council to carry out cleaning at the recreation ground.

Victoria Inglis-Smith, 31, of Beech Road, who has two young children, said: “I’m shocked and slightly disturbed that such things have been left in the park.

“I would still bring the kids here though, although I have been more vigilant than normal today.”

Thames Valley Police has urged parents to be aware of litter and debris left in recreational areas.

Anyone who sees anything which they believe could be harmful should contact the police on 101.
