A CLASSIC Shakespearian tale will end on a musical note at the Bodleian Library in Oxford this weekend.

The Oxford University library will host a production of The Taming of the Shrew in its Old Schools Quad and a jig will be performed at the end of the play – a common tradition back in the Bard’s day.

The play, which tells the story of two wealthy sisters in Padua who are to be married off, has been shown in Oxford for two weeks.

Director Joe Murphy said: “Our production tells the story pretty purely but there are a mish-mash of costumes from different time periods. It has gone down really well and been pretty much sold out in Oxford.”

The play, which is being staged tomorrow and on Sunday, closes this weekend.
