Staff at Specsavers in Witney are trying to raise £1,000 to send a colleague to Botswana with charity Vision Aid Overseas.
Richard Goring, manager at the Woolgate Shopping Centre store, hopes to fund the trip to help set up a new sight centre.
Staff have so far raised £450 by taking part in a sponsored walk and cleaning and adjusting glasses in return for donations.
Mr Goring said: “I will help to install a laboratory as well as train 12 opthalmic nurses who will then be able to carry out sight tests and dispense specs.”
