OXJAM volunteers proved their passion for raising cash for Cowley charity Oxfam by having the festival’s logo tattooed on their bodies.

About 10 people involved with Oxfam’s Oxjam Oxford Takeover — an annual music festival – were tattooed featuring the soundwave from its logo on Sunday at Art Studio Jericho in Walton Street. They each paid £25, with £20 going towards Oxjam and £5 covering the cost of materials. Oxjam Oxford organiser and lead singer of local band Duchess, Katie-Louise Herring, from Wantage, said: “For me I have been doing Oxjam for about four years.

“I have a few tattoos anyway and I thought I would get one as it has been a big part of my life.”

The 25-year-old is also preparing to do a sponsored headshave on Sunday at The Swan in Wantage during a day of music with a barbecue. To sponsor Miss Herring visit justgiving.com/katieshavesherhead All donations will be matched by the Academy Music Group, owners of the O2 Academy in Cowley Road.

Oxjam Oxford Takeover will feature a variety of local bands in venues throughout the city on Saturday, October 12.
