PETER Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, Jemima Puddle-Duck and friends were guests of honour at a garden party yesterday.

It all came to pass when the ladies of the Childrey and Sparsholt WI held their annual fundraising bash at Manor Farm bed and breakfast in Challow near Wantage.

This year they asked guests to join them and come as their favourite characters from the world of Beatrix Potter.

Sarah Raines, who runs the bed and breakfast and dressed up as Mr Todd the Fox said: “We had a wonderful afternoon.

“The weather was fantastic, we had cream teas and we were entertained by a singer doing crooner songs.”

A Beatrix Potter cupcake competition was won by Pat Jackson with her cupcakes, and Joyce Carter won the vegetable display contest.

About 80 people turned up throughout the afternoon and the WI members are now counting the money they raised.
