Sir – The Oxford planners in their wisdom refused an application by Travelodge for a hotel at the south end of Abingdon Road because it only had 45 parking places.
Now there is permission for Tynedale House on the Cowley Road to be converted to a hotel with no parking spaces — and we hear that Travelodge are interested.
This makes no sense. The Cowley Road is already very congested and the location in Abingdon Road would seem ideal to anyone other than the planners.
I hope that Travelodge appeal against this decision and common sense prevails.
