Sir – A week ago last Friday, I tripped on the pavement before the Said Business School and fell on my face.

A small family from Singapore came to help me and gave handkerchiefs to mop up the flowing blood before guiding me to the station and handing me to the police, who took me to their first aid room and addressed my problem.

They then managed to contact my wife in central Oxford and, when she arrived, they drove us both to our parked car. Our local surgery soon assessed my injured face and dressed it appropriately.

This response to my accident caused me considerable satisfaction and I thank the police and the Singapore visitors for their care.
