TEENAGER Katie McFarlane took her mind off her GCSE results by cleaning cars in a charity wash.

The car wash was carried out by Bicester members of the National Citizen Service at the Bicester fire station on Tuesday.

It raised more than £200 for Oxfordshire Mind, the charity chosen by the group.

Katie, 16, from Bicester, a pupil at Cooper School, said: “I thought it was really good and lots of people came down so we cleaned lots of cars.

“There were ten of us involved and we probably cleaned about 40 cars. I definitely felt rewarded and I think I was good at doing it.”

NCS is run by Oxfordshire County Council and gives 16 to 17-year-olds the opportunity to contribute to their local community during the summer holidays.
