FINAL preparations are under way as Woodstock prepares to welcome up to 70,000 people for the four-day Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials.

The international three-star event is now established as one of Oxfordshire’s biggest sporting highlights, attracting some of the largest equestrian spectator crowds in Europe.

This year the Blenheim trials will be playing host to a top-level end-of-season contest with more than 150 top riders representing 16 countries.

The Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials is made up of three phases – dressage, cross-country and show jumping – from next Thursday to Sunday, September 15 , and our sister paper The Oxford Times is again among its sponsors.

Entries this year include Tina Cook, William Fox-Pitt, Pippa Funnell, Izzy Taylor and Lucy Wiegersma, who have just competed at the European Eventing Championship at Malmo in Sweden. For tickets go to blenheim-horse.co.uk
