DORIC have found an “independent expert” to claim that “no building [on the existing site] merited preservation”.
That is a blinkered view which carries no ‘expert’ weight. We need an environment that has a bit of historical depth and variety – older buildings with some period character, like the very popular Elms Parade shops, should not be swept aside with clichés about a new “vibrant” Botley.
The owners of the Parade are doing us all a service by holding out against Doric’s persistent offers.
