TAKING careful aim is Mrs J Masterman, captain of the women’s darts team at The Black Boy pub, Headington, main pic.

The picture dates from 1966 when the team played in the Oxford and District Darts League.

Mrs Masterman is pictured with her teammates: left to right, Mrs M Hutton, Miss J Woodley, Mrs G Newman, Mrs M Bartlett and Mrs D Ware.

Meanwhile, below, an Age Concern charity shop was opened in Carterton by the town mayor Dee Bulley and the chairman of West Oxfordshire District Council, Margaret Frost.

And when the official ceremony took place in 1990, the shop in the Precinct in Alvescot Road, which had been open for several days, was already doing a roaring trade.

Profits from the sale of second-hand clothes, books and bric-a-brac were to be split between Age Concern Carterton and Age Concern Oxfordshire.

Mary Johnson, vice-president of Age Concern Carterton, said: “With the growing number of elderly people in the town, we need more cash.”

Mrs Bulley is seen cutting the tape to open the new shop.
