TWO charities are set to benefit from the generosity of church goers on Oxford’s Barton estate.
St Mary’s Church held its annual harvest festival service on Sunday, and goods donated by worshippers were processed through the church as part of the communion service.
Dry goods have already been passed on to charity Asylum Welcome in East Oxford, while the fresh food will go to the Community Emergency Food Bank in Hollow Way, Cowley.
About 50 people attended the service.
The Rev Maggie Thorne said: “We had tons of stuff donated.
“One thing I have noticed since I have been in Barton is that while on the whole it is a poor community, whatever people have they want to give to others as much as they are able.
“There is great generosity.”
