The numbers are in and the figures are good. Key Stage 1 statistics unveiled yesterday show an impressive increase in reading data for seven-year-olds in the county.
Moreover, it shows a big increase in figures in Oxford itself.
That, after a crisis in the city’s literacy rates three years ago, is hugely welcome.
Indeed, the increases go beyond reading to maths and science.
Of course, there’s more to do.
But we should thank those behind the improvements – especially the youngsters for their fantastic success.
