A FIVE-STOREY building of 78 student rooms for Mansfield College in Mansfield Road should be approved, a planning officer has said.
Oxford City Council’s Matthew Parry said the plan “preserves the special character and appearance” of the area and was unlikely to impact on neighbours.
But the Victorian Group of the Oxford Architectural and Historical Society branded the building “excessively large and intrusive”.
Permission exists for a four-storey building of 78 rooms. The west area planning committee will consider the plan on Tuesday at the Town Hall, St Aldate’s, at 6.30pm.
