THE huge bonus increases awarded to the hospital foundation trust executives is disgraceful, but echoes the policies of a Tory Government in give to the rich and take from the poor. If these bonuses are not returned to benefit hospital staff, then the executives should all resign.
Since the inauguration of the trust, there have been several controversies over their role. Perhaps it is time for the trust to disband and hospital management returned to a management regime that cared about the hospitals instead of lining the pockets of self-interested directors who kowtow to Prime Minister David Cameron’s control.
Chairman Dame Fiona Caldicott is no better by defending the increases with typical Tory drivel about being in line with other trusts across the UK. As chairman, she should be putting the hospital staff first, not the other directors.
She claims the trust has done well, but many would disagree with so much bedblocking happening. After six years of wonderful life-saving treatment at the JR, I can say it is the staff on the wards that do well, and not a director in sight.
