WORKERS at an Oxford Internet firm are celebrating after it was voted one of the most family friendly small businesses in the country.

Digital marketing agency Obergine, based at the Jam Factory in Park End Street, made the top 10 in the category at the awards organised by work-life balance charity Working Families.

Client services director Jeremy Anderson said: “Flexible working is at the heart of it. Kids don’t recognise 9-5 and you have to manage expectations around that.

“As long as we can engineer our programmes around that then it is not a problem.”

Obergine employs 12 staff who are allowed to work from home as and when they need to. Family events such as barbecues and outings are also arranged regularly.

Staff are even allowed “duvet days” where they can take a day off on top of normal holidays, while after three years of service, a six-month sabbatical can be arranged.

Designer and copywriter Erik Boman is able to take time off to pick up daughters Ophelia, 16, and eight-year-old Lyra from school and makes up the hours later in the evening.

He said: “The nature of the job means I can work easily from home and it is particularly useful as my partner Tove is working abroad for a year.”
