A 20-YEAR-OLD man has told a jury he did not sexually abuse a teenager or send text messages “blackmailing” him.

Tommy Fury, of The Beeches Caravan Park, in Old London Road, near Chipping Norton, is on trial at Oxford Crown Court and denies sexual activity with a child and indecent assault.

The trial started on Monday and yesterday he gave evidence.

Charles Ward-Jackson, prosecuting, said the indecent assault took place in Chipping Norton.

The barrister said to Fury: “You lay down next to him and put your hand down his trousers, didn’t you?”

The defendant replied: “No, I didn’t.”

Later, Mr Ward-Jackson questioned Fury about text messages sent from his phone to the defendant, which refer to the alleged assault.

The defendant said he did not know who sent the messages and that he sometimes left his phone charging at a friend’s house.

Mr Ward-Jackson said: “It’s so much simpler than that – you sent them.”

Fury replied: “No, I didn’t send those text messages.”

Mr Ward-Jackson added that some of the texts seemed to be “blaming” the complainant for the encounter.

He said another message threatened to tell people about the assault and was “blackmailing” the alleged victim.

Fury told him: “I would know if I had sent those messages – I didn’t send them.”

The trial continues.
