A power cut hit 1,400 homes after a high voltage cable broke at an electricity substation in Tower Road.
Firefighters were called at 10pm on Thursday to deal with the cable which had become detached from the substation.
The crews from Wallingford and Abingdon found engineers from energy firm Southern Electric had isolated the cable.
The company said more than 1,000 homes had their power back on within an hour, and all but one home had power within one and a half hours. The last house was back on four hours later.
The cause of the fault is being investigated.
