With icy conditions on Oxfordshire’s roads this morning there have been a series of accidents.

In the first incident near Thame, a woman was taken to hospital after being cut free from her car.

Emergency services were called to the A329 between Rycote Lane and Milton Common at around 8.30am after a car left the road and ended up in a hedge.

A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire Service said firefighters from Thame and Wheatley freed the driver, a woman in her 20s, and left her with paramedics.

She was then taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, with a suspected neck injury.

Then around 9am there was another smash on the A40 in Oxford, heading from Cutteslowe to Headington.

Two children and a woman in her 30s were taken to hospital after their car ended up in a ditch.

Emergency services were called and four people were helped from their vehicle without needing to be cut free.

Three of them were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but a spokesman for South Central Ambulance said their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

At 10am one car ended up on its roof after a four-vehicle accident on the A420 near the Botley interchange.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the crash between the interchange and the Eynsham Road turn and traffic is queuing on the A420 northbound.

It is not yet known if anyone has been hurt.

Drivers on the A34 heading northbound are also facing delays following a crash before the Peartree interchange north of Oxford.

There are no further details on this incident at the moment.

Drivers on the northbound carriageway of the M40 are also suffering delays following a crash between junction eight and junction 8a.

It is not yet known if anyone has been hurt.
