Speeding cabbie jailed

The Oxford Times: Speeding cabbie jailed Speeding cabbie jailed

A cabbie has been jailed after a speeding ticket scam in which he falsely said other people were the drivers of his car, later found to be a taxi.

Stephen Foster-Dight, 57, of Marlow Bottom, Marlow, was caught speeding in the Oxford area by cameras three times in November and December 2012.

When he was sent notices, he replied to police, but provided details of a man in America for two of the offences and his wife for the other. He admitted perverting the course of justice and was jailed for six months at Oxford Crown Court and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

now deal with serial offenders in Oxford, the ones whose cars are barely fit for Banger racing yet alone the conveyance of the public, it would have to be done on a once a day basis as once one cab is stopped the message gets round and hey presto they are all knights of the highway for the rest of their shift

He pleads and gets 6 months , only 2 months less than Huhne/Pryce the more female (I think) of the 2 Huhnes who ran it to a fatuous trial using a mediaeval defence and allegedly involving an Assistant Recorder as an accomplice. Is that because Huhne /Pryce is a woman and a posh person and this old boy's just a cabby?

Good point. But without putting coppers in cars out on the road you can't catch them , nor indeed the 1 million plus uninsured vehicles which have been stolen, are carrying drugs and weapons etc etc. Sadly PC Bigears and Sergeant Noddy like it far too much in the warm , friendly police station to venture out into the harsh streets.
