Landlords are told to get a valid licence
10:00pm Thursday 20th February 2014 in News
Landlords have been warned that If they do not have a valid licence for their property, they could be prosecuted and fined thousands of pounds.
Houses in Multiple Occupation – if more than three separate tenants are living there – require a licence from their district council.
Cabinet member for health and housing at Vale of White Horse District Council, Roger Cox, said: “Unlicensed, unmaintained properties are hazardous.
“I would urge all landlords to be sure that they obtain the proper licence and keep both themselves and their tenants safe.”
Oxford City Council have opened a consultation on proposed changes to the Houses in Multiple Occupation licensing fees and prosecution until 14 March. Go to consultation.oxford.gov.uk for more information.
