I HAVE had some issues with rogue parking tickets in Oxford which I think people should be made aware of. I have complained to the council, the local police, trading standards and to the British Parking Association, and all have either not responded or have claimed that it is not their issue/ there is nothing that they can do.

Rogue companies are issuing parking tickets in Oxford, says Adam Scott

I received a ticket while parking in Reliance Way in Oxford in early February and noticed that there was a new sign which had been put up by ‘Conkai Security’. The ticket demanded £100 or £60 within two weeks. I found this odd so contacted Oxfordshire Highways records (who were very helpful) who informed me (and have sent me maps to this extent) that the land I parked on is publicly owned and that this company has no right to be issuing tickets on it. I have complained to Conkai, however they refuse to respond unless I give them my home address (I refuse to give some cowboy company my address).

They have still not removed any of the illegally placed signage down this road and I imagine there are more people who are being illegally ticketed and are probably paying this company.

I would like to make people aware that this is going on.
