TODDLER Victoria Trueman has beaten her big brother by being named the Oxford Mail Baby of the Year 2014.

The one-year-old from Littlemore took the overall title to best her brother Harry, two, who came runner-up two years ago at just eight months old.

Mum Katy said: “Two years ago my son came second, so we thought we’d enter Victoria, and she won.

“It’s quite sweet, really. I’m a very proud mum.”

More than 2,400 votes were cast in the annual competition, which saw hundreds of proud parents put more than 220 tots forward to shine in the spotlight.

Mrs Trueman, 34, said: “I’d always seen it in the Oxford Mail in previous years, and it’s a nice little memento to remember them by.

“I’m really excited.”

Victoria’s beaming smile and cheeky face have won her family a week’s holiday to Pontins, a £50 Sainsbury’s voucher, a trophy and a canvas print of her winning photograph.

Mrs Trueman, an accountant, said: “This will be Victoria’s first holiday.”

Brodie Wheal, now 10 months old, from Blackbird Leys, was named the runner-up in the youngest category.

His mum Gaby Palmer said: “It was a really nice surprise. It was such a last-minute decision to enter. I was shopping with my sister Courtney at Sainsbury’s Heyford Hill on the last day that they were taking pictures and just entered at the spur of the moment.”

The mum-of-two, 29, who also has Jack, five, said: “We’re really lucky to have so many friends and family who voted for us.

“We put it out on Facebook and texted everyone we know to vote for us.”

Little two-year-old Maahir Mohammed from Rose Hill won the 19 to 36 months runner up slot. His mum Faiqa Khan said: “I’ve wanted to do it for ages, and finally got around to it this year.

“Other members of my family have entered their kids, and I wanted to put him in,”

The 22-year-old added: “When I found out that he was a runner-up I was really pleased. It was a proud moment.”

The runner-up in the 10 to 18 month age group was the one-year-old Noah Rawlins from Botley.
