THE way people behave towards each other has deteriorated over the last 20 years. TV (particularly the soaps) often portrays the biggest mouths interrupting gentle conversation, showing nothing more than ignorance and selfishness that their contribution to open discussion is the most important factor.

Over the bank holiday – while at traffic lights on red or queuing to park in overcrowded car parks – some drivers had no patience. They illegally, while stationary, blew their horns if at traffic lights the first in the queue did not immediately begin to move across the traffic lights the instant they turned green.

While at Homebase, the car park was packed but on leaving the disabled parking bay, a large luxury car came speeding in, sounding its horn for us to get out of his way. Another five seconds and the space would have been vacant.

My mother used to instill in me and my brother that patience is a virtue and to only speak when spoken to. Sadly those values no longer exist in the everyday rat-race that we all partake in to cram too much into our busy lives.
