Sir – On Good Friday a group of local Christians wanted to carry a large wooden cross along Cowley Road, but they were denied permission to do it.

On Friday, May 22, at about 5.30pm, a group of Korean Christians were carrying a huge wooden cross as they processed along Cornmarket, declaiming religious truths for the benefit of atheist and Muslim passers-by.

I asked one of them if they had permission to do this. He replied with conviction that they did not need permission.

Why not? Are Korean Christians exempt from city council regulations, even when they are within sight of the town hall?
