OH dear, when will our members of Parliament join the real world?

Mr Gove, the Education Secretary, wants to have a law that will stop parents from taking children on holidays in term time.

He does not seem to be aware of all the parents who get told when to have their holidays – police officers, firemen, nurses, public transport workers.

He would be better off getting a law that prevents those greedy hoteliers and seaside landladies increasing their prices over the half-term and holiday periods.

In fact, it would help if all parts of the UK had the same dates.

My grandchildren in this area go back to school just as their cousin in Wales is about to start hers.

Maybe Mr Gove will now understand why so many voted for UKIP.
