A CYCLE campaigner completed a 62-mile midnight bike ride through London to raise money for a new path between Eynsham and Botley.
John Blackie from Cumnor, raised £2,000 after riding for seven hours and 40 minutes from Alexandra Palace to Crystal Palace during the London Nightrider event two weekends ago.
The former financial advisor took on the challenge in support of charity Bike Safe’s B4044 Community Path campaign.
Supporters want a path to be built from the A420 at Dean Court to the Swinford roundabout in Eynsham.
Mr Blackie, 67, said: “The purpose of the campaign is to make it safer and less congested for everyone.”
The group formed two years ago and a petition has gained almost 3,000 signatures.
Bike Safe chairman Ian Leggett said: “We have hundreds of people who are scared stiff of riding a bike on that route so the only people that ride on that route now are very confident cyclists.”
