King Alfred’s Academy pupil Luke Parsons didn’t let his disability get in the way of his A-Levels as he secured a place at Loughborough University to study computer science.
Luke, 18, of Charlton Road, who suffers cerebral palsy, was awarded a B grade in maths, a B in economics and a C in computing.
He said: “Cerebral palsy makes life harder because I have a scribe who writes out my exam for me as I dictate it to them.
“The results were a bit of a surprise, but it was what I wanted and I am pleased that all the work has paid off.”
