A MOTHER and daughter were still in hospital last night after their car plunged into the River Cherwell on Sunday.
Also in the crash were the father and second daughter, who have now both been discharged from the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
The family of four were rescued by firefighters after their car left the road at Nell Bridge between Aynho and Adderbury, north Oxfordshire.
The red Mercedes car left the road at about 7.15am and fell 10 metres – 33ft – down the bank and into the river.
It took three crews from Banbury, Deddington and Kidlington to rescue the family who were taken to the John Radcliffe.
Police said last night that the mother and daughter were in a stable condition in hospital.
On Sunday an Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Fire crews quickly entered the water with life jackets and dry-suits and effected a difficult rescue faced with waist deep water, challenging access issues and fuel leaking from the submerged vehicle.”
