MAGDALEN College School celebrated the 175th anniversary of its rowing club with a special oar presentation.

Rowers from the club’s past and present came together to mark the anniversary. Former member and steward of Henley Regatta, John Friend, was one of the returning oarsmen who enjoyed the event. He said: “The MCS Boat Club is one of the oldest boat clubs in the country and has been in continuous existence for the last 175 years.

“It was wonderful to see so many past and present rowers there to celebrate. The club has, over the years, produced numerous Blues and Henley winners.”

A commemorative oar and certificate was presented to the club by British Rowing, the sport’s national governing body.
