THE trial of a tour to celebrate the life of Morris founder and philanthropist Lord Nuffield will take place on Monday.

Last month the Oxford Mail appealed for members of community groups to get in touch with the organisers of the tour, which could become a regular tourist attraction if Monday’s pilot is successful.

All the places on the trial tour have now been filled.

The tour, which has been organised by tourism body Experience Oxfordshire, will leave from Nuffield College before moving to city-centre sites associated with Lord Nuffield including the original Morris garage in Longwall Street and his house in James Street.

Guests on the trip will then travel to Nuffield Place in Henley, South Oxfordshire, where they will take a tour before travelling back to Oxford to the Cowley Plant where his legacy remains alive through the production of Minis.

There will be a one-hour guided tour of the plant before the tour ends where it began at Nuffield College.

The tour will be led by tour guide Imelda Dooley, a student at Oxford University, who has researched the life of the motoring mogul and who will be accompanied by more experienced guides.
