THE final phase of consultation is under way for West Oxfordshire District Council’s Local Plan.

The six-week consultation, which runs until 5pm on Friday, May 8, gives people a chance to comment on the soundness and legal compliance of the plan before it is submitted to a government inspector for consideration.

A final version was approved by the council last month and there is a legal requirement for it to be published for six weeks to give everyone the chance to submit further comments.

After the consultation, the plan and all the feedback from the consultation will be submitted to the government planning inspector.

Proposed in the plan are 525 new homes to be built in the district each year up to 2031, a total of 10,500.

This is lower than the figure of 660 homes per year suggested by the 2014 Oxfordshire Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA), commissioned by the Government in 2014.

The plan outlines key sites for housing development including north Witney, and west Witney and outlines provision for space for new employment.
