Meanwhile security was tight on the city’s bridges to make sure no one tried to jump into the river.
Fire officers said the morning went “very smoothly” and that there was no disruption.
Graeme Few, Resilience and Specialist Operations Manager said: "Our ambulance team, including ambulance crews, Hazardous Area Response Team and ambulance officers have been in Oxford this morning working with other partners to ensure that everyone was able to celebrate May Day safely. "We’d like to thank all those taking part in the celebrations for keeping the events fun and safe.
"Medical teams involved today assessed and treated one patient for a medical emergency, following that care the patient did not need to go to hospital."
Traffic along Donnington Bridge Road, Iffley Road and Abingdon Road was heavy this morning, despite Magdalen Bridge being reopened an hour earlier than planned.
