THE body of missing Oxford man Trae Van-Merlin is believed to have been found yesterday, police have said.
Thames Valley Police said officers were called by a member of the public to land next to Seacourt Stream, off Botley Road, at about 3.30pm on Sunday, where they discovered the body of a man.
The force said in a statement: “Formal identification has not taken place, but officers believe the deceased is Trae Van-Merlin, who went missing in November 2015.
“The next of kin have been informed. The family have asked for privacy at this very difficult time.”
The death was not thought to be suspicious, a spokesman added, and a file was being prepared for the coroner.
Mr Van-Merlin, 41, had last been seen on November 16 in West Oxford when police launched an appeal to find him.
He had moved to the city only three weeks before he went missing.
