MOHAMMED Altaf-Khan has been elected as the new Lord Mayor of Oxford.
At a meeting of Oxford City Council in Town Hall, he took over from Councillor Rae Humberstone.
Mr Humberstone is now deputy mayor, with Councillor Susan Brown elected as sheriff.
The mayor represents the city at official events and supports charity causes, on a term lasting one year.
At the meeting Councillor Bob Price was also re-elected as leader of the Labour-run council on a four-year term.
Ed Turner was confirmed as deputy leader again. On the executive board, Councillor Linda Smith replaces Mark Lygo with responsibility for leisure and sports.
