A delegation from Oxford will join a large-scale event in Trafalgar Square, London tomorrow to mark what would have been the 42nd birthday of the late Jo Cox MP.

The memorial event will begin at 4pm and people and organisations in Oxford are being invited along by Oxfam, where Ms Cox worked between 2001 and 2009 and which has organised a coach.

Ms Cox, the Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was stabbed and shot outside a constituency surgery in Birstall, West Yorkshire on Thursday afternoon. She later died at the Leeds General Infirmary.

Team co-ordinator Bethany Farr said: "The tragic news of Jo Cox’s death on Thursday 16 June is still sinking in. Jo, a British MP, and former Oxfam colleague, was killed for her beliefs.

"On Wednesday, June 22, Jo would have turned 42 years old. Working closely together with civil society partners that Jo held dear, we are organising a series of simultaneous events around the globe to celebrate Jo’s birthday and all that she stood for and believed in. The theme is 'More in Common – Celebrating the life of Jo Cox'."

Anyone interested in joining the coach tomorrow should register their interest here.

Please get in touch today or tomorrow if you or others from your organisation would like to come and need a space on the coach. You can sign up here:https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BR995FY
