Sainsbury's £1.4 billion takeover of Argos has been approved throwing fresh doubt over the future of Oxford's New Inn Hall Street store.
The Competition and Markets Authority cleared the acquisition of Argos owner Home Retail Group today, which should be completed in the Autumn.
Earlier this year analysis for the Guardian showed that 245 shops across the country are withing half a mile of a Sainsbury's, putting their future under threat.
The company's New Inn Hall Street shop was included in the list.
