ANOTHER driver has had their car stolen while leaving it to de-ice.

On Friday morning, Thames Valley Police Kidlington tweeted that a third vehicle had been reported stolen at 7am after two similar incidents in Kidlington and Deddington since December 2.

Thames Valley Police press office were unable to provide further details on the incident but has released details of other incidents across Oxfordshire.

At least nine cars have been stolen over the past two months while their owners have left to de-ice.

This has included motorists in areas across the city including Marston, Rose Hill and Barton where drivers have left their cars with the keys in the ignition while warming up and defrosting the windows.

The first report in the Oxford Mail described how Marston couple Jim and Nicky Devine left their car for two minutes to de-ice on December 4. Mr Devine returned to his Ford Galaxy shortly after to find it had been stolen.

The next day thieves snatched a Vauxhall Antara SE from an address in Great Milton.

Owner Claire Putt said she went to her front door to grab her de-icing equipment and from the corner of her eye saw a man speed off in her car.

Not only had they stolen her two-week old £8,800 car but her children’s Christmas presents inside as well. Other thefts include Ashhurst Way in Rose Hill, Oxford, Elmthorpe Road in Wolvercote, Oxford, Argosy Close in Chalgrove and Burchester Avenue in Barton, Oxford.

Police couldn't say if anybody had been arrested.
