Five children have been injured after a school bus and a van crashed near Cokethorpe School.

The driver of the bus and two children were taken to hospital with minor injuries while the van driver and three other pupils were treated at the scene before being discharged.

The school's headmaster Damian Ettinger praised the emergency services for their quick response.

He said: "The response was brilliant - they assessed a number of our pupils and took two to the John Radcliffe Hospital as a precaution.

"It was an unfortunate incident and it's never easy as a headmaster to phone parents and tell them there's been an accident but thankfully it was only a minor incident."

Mr Ettinger said that within fifteen minutes most children were back at school and being checked over by nurses.

The bus was carrying children from Islip and Kidlington on their daily route to the school near Witney.

South Central Ambulance Service were called just after 8.30am to reports of a collision between a transit van and a school bus on the A415 between Ducklington and Hardwick.

Three ambulances attended and treated seven people in total but no-one was seriously injured.
