I amwriting in response to the report on Oxford's tower blocks (Oxford Mail, November 12).

What we are looking at with this report is the long-term options for housing in Oxford.

At this point, it is very early days, and these are only ideas.

The most important thing is what residents of the blocks want.

Once we have studied the options further, we will, of course, be listening to what people say.

Your editorial points out another challenge - that of overall numbers of social housing. My belief is that Oxford's housing stock has to be improved in quality and quantity.

If regeneration is to be successful, it must be done with the help and support of the local people affected, and must also help solve the problems caused by not having enough housing in our city.
