A schoolgirl has created a mural to honour both Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III.

Eight-year-old Georgie-Ellyn Tuppenney-Hockney created the artwork on the day of the Queen’s funeral (September 19).

Both Georgie-Ellyn and her mum, Ella, are keen royalists as they take an interest in the monarchy’s interests and duties.

The pair said they were “glued to the television” after news of the Queen’s death broke.

The pair, of Lock Crescent in Kidlington, were unable to attend the funeral in London but chose to pay their respects in their own way, including signing the local book of condolences.

On the day of the funeral, Mrs Tuppenney-Hockney, 36, wrote a poem for the Queen and Georgie-Ellyn began creating an artwork outside using chalks.

Mrs Tuppenney-Hockney said: “She disappeared outside to do some artwork, and after about 20 mins called me out to take a look, I couldn’t believe what a lovely kind picture she had drawn of the late Queen and our new King.”

Later in the day at 7pm the eight-year-old arranged for all the neighbours in the street to come out and clap for the Queen, before playing God Save Our King for the street to hear and sing too.

“It was just a lovely neighbourly way to finish off the day. Showing respect for one reigning monarch and acceptance for another,” the mother added.

This artwork is not Georgie-Ellyn’s the first royal-related creation. For the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee she wrote a poem which she sent to Her Majesty.

Georgie-Ellyn was “honoured and thrilled” to receive a letter back from the Queen.
