The mysterious artist of Mill Street has created a new photographic work, which is perhaps nodding to the imminent closure of Botley Road.

The mystery artist has been keeping locals both entertained and puzzled with ‘her’ creative and eye-catching images, which are placed in a billboard on Mill Street.

The designs, some with hashtags, keep appearing on the side of Pack and Send in Mill Street which runs south from Botley Road close to Oxford Railway Station.

For more than a year the images have been appearing and have included a corgi wearing a black armband, Father Christmas wearing a mask and a dodo surrounded by yellow and blue eggs.

The latest image to go on display is a simple photograph of Botley Bridge’s underpass.

This is perhaps a nod to the imminent closure of Botley Road for repair works.

Part of Botley Road is expected to shut on January 9 2023 and will not reopen until December 15.

During this time, there will be a full rail bridge replacement alongside additional rail bridge installations, a new road structure and enhanced foot and cycle routes.

A member of staff at Pack and Send explained the company used to use the billboard for advertising but the adverts were often graffitied.

After they stopped using it, a resident on the street started creating fun images to put in the billboard instead.

They did not know the identity of the artist except to say, they know it is a woman.
